Ourimbah-Wyoming Magpies

Our Club

The History Of Our Club...

The Ourimbah-Wyoming Magpies are one of the oldest bush footy clubs anywhere in Australia.

Initially established in 1913, the Magpies were a founding member of the inaugural Central Coast competition two years later and have since produced a host of talented players including Dave Fairleigh, Jimmy Maloney, Robbie Ross, Perry Haddock and John Carlaw.

Apart from winning the first ever Central Coast premiership in 1915, defeating Erina 3-zip, the Magpies then remained a powerhouse organisation for the best part of half a century, winning five consecutive titles in the 1950s alone. During their peak, the club also hosted not one, but two sides in the local first grade competition, with the most recent premiership being 2010.

In 1961, the Magpies family also expanded when the OWJRLFC was born.

In the years since, the club has become one of the most recognised sporting institutions on the Central Coast while continually building on its reputation as a proud, family-based organisation.

Importantly, the club remains committed to creating the type of environment that sees Ourimbah-Wyoming boast one of the highest retention rates of any Central Coast club.

While the Magpies may be small compared to some rivals, the club is proud to have created an environment that now sees the sons of several junior life members within its ranks. The club is also continually welcoming new families, with a heavy focus in recent years on also creating pathways for Girls Tackle and Girls League Tag.

All up, the Magpies are a club that, while extremely proud of its storied past, is also heavily focused on its bright future.
